As 2023 ends, we wanted to notify our clients that the yearly rate increases from carriers are imminent.
Every year carriers implement what is called a General Rate Increase (GRI), and, for 2024, while we have not yet received specific rates from the carriers, we know this increase is expected to be roughly 5.9% across all carriers. (For historical context, note average GRI’s from 2017 to 2021 were 4.9%, while 2022 increases were 5.9% and 2023 increases saw 6.9% increases.)
Announced Increase Dates:
- UPS: December 26, 2023
- FedEx, DHL Express, Maergo: January 1, 2024
- USPS: January 21, 2024
- (Others to be announced)
Below are links to some articles announcing the expected increases. As Ryder E-Commerce by Whiplash gets more detailed information from our carriers, we will share specifics on rate increases.
