How do low inventory notifications work?

There are two types of low inventory notifications:

  • Item: low inventory
  • Item: out-of-stock

The out-of-stock notifications are sent when inventory for an item in RyderShip goes to zero. There isn't any configuration that needs to be done for this besides subscribing to the notification in the Notifications page.

The low inventory notifications are sent daily containing a list of each item that has fallen below a specified threshold.

You will need to specify your low inventory thresholds. They can be set at the account level and at the item level. If a threshold is set for the account and also for a given item, the item's threshold will take precedence.

Setting a threshold for your account

To set a low inventory threshold at the account level, you'll go to your customer Preferences

The customer or account-level Process Orders settings are found under General Preferences.

1.   Click the drop-down under Customer, and then click Preferences.

2.   Under the General tab, scroll to Inventory section.

3.   Enter the number of unit(s) for the threshold. This will apply across all items in your inventory - unless an item has a item-level threshold.

4.   Scroll to the bottom and click Save Changes.

Setting a per item threshold

You also can specify unique threshold values for each of your items separate from your account-level threshold. This can be helpful for items that require longer lead times from your factory, for example.

The low inventory threshold for an item can be accessed via the item's Item Details page:

1.   From the Inventory menu, locate the item.

2.   Click the item to open the Item Details page.

3.   Click the Inv Control tab, scroll down to the Capacity Planning section.

4.   Enter the minimum quantity of the item that should be kept in stock to avoid running out.

5.   Click Save Changes
