Scancodes are the text generated when a barcode is scanned. Occasionally, units that are the same product may be labeled with different barcodes. This could be caused by:
- Mislabeling during manufacturing that do not merit re-labeling
- Units prepared for different channels, e.g. Amazon vs. direct to consumer vs. Best Buy
- SKU changed, but old units exist in the facility
This can be handled by creating an alternate scancode in RyderShip on the Item Details pages.
To create an alternate scancode:
1. From the Inventory menu, locate the item.
2. Click the item to open the Item Details page.
3. Click the Inv Control tab. The item's scancode(s) are listed in the Scancodes section.
4. Scan in a new scancode, or enter it in the Add a New Primary Scancode field, and click Add. Any new scancode will automatically become the primary.
5. To change your new scancode to NOT be the primary, click next to the scancode that should be primary and select Make Primary.
Your newly added scancode now should still be active but not the primary.
