Scancodes are the text generated when a Barcode is scanned. Occasionally, units that are the same product may be labeled with different barcodes. This could be caused by:
- Mislabeling during manufacturing that do not merit re-labeling
- Units prepared for different channels, e.g. Amazon vs. direct to consumer vs. Best Buy
- SKU changed, but old units exist in the facility
This can be handled by creating an Alternate Scancode in Whiplash. To create an alternate scancode:
Go to Item Details → Labels. Enter a new Scancode into the field at the top of the page. Then select the associated code from the Scancode dropdown shown below.
Note: Customers cannot see the "Print Labels" section or Deactivate Scancodes.
