How does RyderShip support EDI?

RyderShip offers two solutions to support EDI:

-or-

  • Partner with your own EDI provider.

RyderShip is an API and webhook-first platform. You can map RyderShip’s APIs/webhooks to generate the fulfillment information you and your EDI partners require for wholesale orders using EDI. At this time, RyderShip doesn’t offer native EDI data formats.

Solution #1: eZCom integration

We recommend and support eZCom as the default EDI provider for RyderShip customers as the easiest out-of-the-box solution. With eZCom:

  • eZCom manages all retailer mappings, compliance rules, and transaction flows.
  • RyderShip connects directly to eZCom, ensuring orders, shipments, and confirmations flow seamlessly between systems.
  • No need for custom EDI setup—just onboard with eZCom and your retailers’ EDI needs are managed end-to-end.

Key Benefits:

  • Fast onboarding
  • Reduced compliance risk
  • No need to build or manage your own EDI connections

See eZCom Integration for more details to move forward.

Solution #2: Other EDI partners

For customers who choose not to use eZCom, RyderShip still provides support for wholesale EDI workflows, provided the appropriate setup is in place.

In this scenario:

  • Customers send wholesale orders to RyderShip via their preferred method.
  • RyderShip generates the Bill of Lading (BOLs), GS1 labels, and other required shipping documentation.
  • Shipment confirmations and compliance documents can then be shared back to your EDI provider for transmission to the retailer.

Customer Responsibility:

  • Managing retailer EDI connections outside of RyderShip
  • Ensuring correct order formatting for wholesale imports and mapping the order shipment data to your preferred retail providers.

RyderShip Responsibility:

  • Providing shipment-level data (BOL, GS1 labels, packing info)
  • Supporting compliance with shipping documentation standards

FAQs

Do I need my own EDI provider?

Yes, you need an EDI provider. We recommend eZCom if it fits your business needs because we have managed integration options with their solution. Or, you can also bring your own provider if that is your preference.

What happens if I don't want to use eZCom?

You can still manage your own EDI provider, but RyderShip will only supply the shipping documents (BOLs, GS1 labels, etc.) needed to remain compliant. You are responsible for managing your retailer connections and data flows.

GS1 label retailer mappings are available for select retailers. See GS1 Label Field Mapping & Setup for details.

Don’t think these options or eZCom are right for you? Talk with your Customer Success Manager.

What are the benefits of using eZCom?

Faster onboarding, reduced compliance risk, no need for custom mapping, and complete management of your EDI requirements.

What documents does RyderShip generate for wholesale shipments?

RyderShip generates Bills of Lading (BOLs), GS1 labels, and other standard shipping compliance documents.

Can RyderShip connect directly to my retailer's EDI system?

No, RyderShip does not build direct retailer EDI connections. We rely on eZCom as the supported provider, or on your chosen EDI provider if you decide to manage it independently.

How do I get started with eZCom?

Simply let your RyderShip Customer Success Manager know, and we’ll guide you through the onboarding process with eZCom.  See eZCom Integration for details.
