What are items?
By default, Items are sellable products in your shop. Items can be created in various ways and also be configured to be promotional or packaging.
Items are typically identifiable by their SKU, and they are located under the Inventory menu in RyderShip.
Creating items
For sellable products, this happens automatically as part of an eCommerce integration (Shopify). It is also possible to import a CSV or create Items manually by clicking Create Item in the upper right from Inventory Search.
Items are created in three ways:
Platform Connection (recommended)
Connecting your sales platform is the most streamlined method for inputting your products into RyderShip. As part of your standard install process with RyderShip, you will connect your appropriate sales platform. During this process, we will import your products automatically. Instructions for connecting the main platforms are available below. If you don't see your platform or have questions in general, don't hesitate to email us at support@whiplash.com.
Via Ship Notice
A second way to create items is via the Ship Notice tab.
You will create a Ship Notice any time you are sending us inventory. This tells us that inventory is on the way and ensures a smooth receiving process. Clicking Add Items on the Ship Notice page allows you to do two things:
- Add new quantity for items currently in stock.

- Create new items not previously associated with your RyderShip account.
To add new items in RyderShip via a ship notice:
1. On the Ship Notice page, click Add Items to open the Add Items to Ship Notice page.
2. Click Create a New Item at the bottom to open the New Item page.
3. Complete the fields for an individual item or use the CSV upload method by clicking Upload a CSV of Items. Complete the CSV fields for all items and upload the file.
4. Click Create to add your new items to RyderShip.
5. Back on the Ship Notice page, click Add Items and let us know how many are on the way!
Manually
You may run into certain instances, such as creating product bundles or promo items, where you need to add an item manually.
You can add items one by one or in bulk by selecting Inventory and clicking Create Item. You also can import items by clicking Import Items.
To add new items manually:
1. Click the Inventory menu to display all of your items.
2. Click Create Item to open the New Item page.
3. Complete the fields for an individual item or use the CSV upload method by clicking Upload a CSV of Items. Complete the CSV fields for all items and upload the file.
4. Click Create to add your new items to RyderShip.
Searching for and exporting items
Inventory Snapshots are captured daily. You can find them by clicking Files under Customer. See Inventory Snapshots for more details.
You can also do a manual CSV export, which captures the most up-to-date information but takes longer:
